cultural economy
Do you approve of the manner in which your cultural dollars are spent? Maintaining the status Quo is that the way to go?
I don’t think so!
What are our responsibilities? Do we care?
When we look at this segment of our economy we see that we can not afford not to care. Arts and culture is are a sixty million dollar a year industry on PEI last time I checked and growing.
So what do we do?

merging lanes
Meet me at the intersection of Culture and tourism and I’ll take you for coffee.
Beanz is where I usually go; it’s on University Avenue, every morning around 10:00AM.
Beanz is a great place to get the news, debate politics, and talk business. That’s why I go, those of you who know me know I love to talk but I especially love to listen.
Every morning without fail I am approached by business owners, people in business as well as those seeking employment, our community. The conversation is always the same, what can we do to create activity, business and jobs here on our island.
I ask? Who are we and what do we have to offer.
UPEI, Holland College, The College of Piping, The Atlantic Veterinary College all of these bring jobs students and economic stability to our community.
Learning vacations focusing on the cultural sector will bring commerce to our island over a twelve month period. We have a fabulous environment in which to offer learning vacations this is a product that is salable; we have all the parts let’s put them together.

I’m told that bloging is a tool of expression, allow me to express myself.
I believe that we as members of our community have a responsibility to insure our community of a strong economic destiny. It’s up to us to create this destiny or we will have none.
I believe that destiny to be cultural tourism, we give people a reason to come to our island and they will come twelve months of the year.
Learning vacations.
The Kier Gallery is partnering with The University of Prince Edward Island, The Charlottetown and area cultural tourism industry association, CARREFOUR DE L’ISLE-SAINT-JEAN, The Province of Prince Edward Island and the people of our community.
We will offer world class workshops
Partnering with top people in the cultural industry from around the world. Film, dance, theater, voice, the list of ideas is endless. If we build it they will come, we are a fabulous destination for booth the participants in the work shops vacation as well as the instructors.

My name is Kier Kenny
I am the artistic director of the kier gallery a not for profit charitable artist run gallery.
Opening in June 1998, the Kier Gallery has provided art exhibition and performance space to a wide range of artists, events and organizations. Since the Gallery’s opening, hundreds of artists have exhibited or performed with the support of the gallery and its charitable donors. The Gallery also provides, on a daily basis, meeting, classroom and rehearsal space for numerous organizations and individuals, ranging from life drawing classes to the reel island film festival. The space is often provided at little or no cost to enable the artist the opportunity to continue their work.
