Hot sticky not busy
I left the Island for a few days went across the bridge to Canada, paved roads, pretty girls, felt like a vacation.
Tourism isn't very brisk, it will be interesting to see what lies the government tells regarding the number of visitors we receive this summer. I for one see a sharp decline in the numbers, what does this mean to Islanders? Tourism has become our number one industry, if tourism is down the entire economy suffers. We have to work together to create a future, we are more than donut shops and draft beer.
Cultural education, activity creates activity. Education employs people creating long term jobs and brings students from around the world. These students spend money on rent, food, entertainment, the list goes on. This is a special place, a peaceful place and we attract the world community, they want to come we need only give them a reasond. Build it and they will come!
We need to come together as a community before we go broke as a community, look around at the empty shops, the students looking for summer employment, the number of families right in your own back yard working just to pay the heat and lights. I don't know about you but I am proud to be an Islander, I want my neighbour to be rich and the Island economy to be strong.
It's hot and sticky and I need a beer, Mr. Bins we can only give direction it is up to you chosen few to implement the wishes of the people.
Your friend Kier
