Atlantic Canadian Good Old Boy Bull Shit

Cultural B.S.
How many of you attended the Jazz and Blues festival in Charlottetown, The Guardian quoted the organizing comity as saying ten thousand were in attendance, B.S.! I attended, they would have to count everyone as four in order to come up with such a figure at the most there were thirty fine hundred.
Why would this figure be misrepresented?
Are you aware of how many of our cultural tax dollars were spent to put on this show of shows? How much was paid to the artists? How much went to the organizers? How much did we the tax payer give as an out right grant through A.C.O.A., and the city and province, how much?
They will be back next year the hand out asking for more of our cultural tax dollars and quoting fictitious numbers to justify their existence.
I went to the festival and I spoke to the people doing business in our community.
Ask John at The China Garden, Rob at Burke Electric, Fran at Churchill Arms, Rodney at Cafe Diem or myself, Kier at Brennan's and you will get another story.
We live in a good old boy society where the good of the few out ways the good of the community, we are that community and I for one do not approve.
We tell our arts and cultural community that we have no money to support them. There were more tax dollars given to this one event than received by the P.E.I Council Of The Arts for the entire year.
Ask yourself why these business men and women can get such large amounts? Who benefits? It wasn't the community, it wasn't the artists, can you smell something?
Your friend Kier
