My door is open
My friendship is forever! My friendship knows no boundaries!
I heard these words recently while visiting U.N.B. and was reminded of best friends who would spout these words at the drop of a hot and with the conviction of the ages. How easy it is to talk the talk how hard it is to walk the walk. We put such restrictions on ourselves and others when we make statements such as these.
It has been my experience as one on the receiving end of " My friendship knows no boundaries" to have been excommunicated from those friendships when the friend didn't agree with the way things were going. None of us are perfect, we all stumble and fall, we are all confused at times by life and the pressures that life brings.
True friendship is the ability to love and accept our friends even when they make us mad or sad, make mistakes or we just don't agree with them. The good times as well as the bad that make a true friendship.
Don't make statements you can't live up to, love your friends no matter what.
