Pamper & PLay Women's Fair

What a great success for all who organized and attended this celebration of International Womens Day this past Saturday. I had soooo much fun! We gathered: sisters, daughters, mothers, grandmothers, aunts, wives... from all kinds of professions and from all kinds of social classes. It was a truly "unifying experience".

The Womens Fair was held in the St Peters Hall at the conrner of Rochford and Fitzroy St in Charlottetown and was the brain child of Kele Redmond of Tam Ayng Consulting. Kele is a dedicated and spirited event organizer whose vision is to bring awareness to our community about the necessary journey towards social wellness and economic development. Other key players in the event were the PEI Business Women's Association, the Womens Network and The Advisory Council on the Status of Women. A whole lot of Woman power at work!!

There was plenty for the ladies to do once inside. Much needed relaxation and rejuvination by sampling a number of different pampering services: reflexology, a yoga demonstration, massage therapy, jewelry, pampering products, a meditative labrynth, Chocolate to die for, homemade goodies delivered by well wishing fairies, enchanting melodies on flute by Nancy Clement.

The finale was an interpretive dance preformed by Kelli Hanrahan in the centre of the room surrounded by a circular crowd of "The Papmered". Kelli stood in the centre of a circle of hand painted rune stones and was surrounded by a row of ladies playing singing bowls, hand drums and a number of other rich sounding percussion instruments. I grabbed a hand drum and joined in. There were voices joined in rythmic song, music from the heart. What a rush, the whole room was entranced and there was a connectedness. I had to laugh to myself thinking: Those "heathen Godess worshiping Pagans!" had themselves a pagan ritual right there in the church hall! AMEN.
